Hanako - Pricy but 100% worth it!

by 올쓰 2011. 9. 2.

Hanako is one of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in Surrey. Despite of its modest appearance from outside, one may be surprised by its relatively high pricing. Regardless, I must say,  'you'll get what you pay for'.
First thing you notice at this place is that their menu selection is quite limited. If you are thinking of one of those 'sushi garden or california sushi' type of places, there's a high chance of disappointment. However, they do cover all the basics if you know what I mean. On the other hand, they have an extensive daily special menu if you are in the mood to try something new (but they are pricy).

Their usual setting.

My FAVOURITE! Salmon tataki salad with their house dressing (the name may be different but that's what it is).

Their house dressing made with vinegar and soy sauce goes fantastic with this dish.

Few different kinds of nigiri sushi.

Egg plant.

More sushi and rolls.

Tempura udon - what's different about this udon is that they use seaweed/kelp to add more flavour to the soup.

Seating at Hanako is quite limited so you should make a reservation if you are planning to visit with a large group of people.

*it's not in the picture but their chrashi don is fantastic.
